Buddhist Ceremony for the Late King

The Ministry of Education organized on 28 October 2016 a Buddhist ceremony and a mourning activity to commemorate the fifteenth day after King Bhumibol passed away.

The Minister of Education, Gen. Dapong Ratanasuwan, chaired a Buddhist ceremony to offer alms to ten monks from Boworniwet Buddhist Temple in Bangkok. The ceremony aimed to commemorate the fifteen days after His Majesty King Bhumibol passed away. The ceremony was also attended by ministerial executives, staff and Thai politicians.

After the ceremony, the Minister and the participants sang the royal anthem and stood in silence to mourn the King.

On this occasion, the Minister of Education spoke about His Majesty the King and his work in the field of education, saying that the Ministry of Education would adopt the ideas on educational development given to them by His Majesty the King. This will encourage teachers to pass their knowledge on to their students, teach them to be good and to love their peers. This may seem to be insignificant but it is really important.

Moreover, the Ministry of Education has found ways to promote several activities, according to the royal initiatives, such as encouraging students to tutor their peers. Doing this will promote unity among the students and bring about national solidarity.
